About Us
Marion Shackford is the founder and President of Adaptive Home Environments, LLC. Marion is certified by the National Association of Home Builders as a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). She also has obtained an Executive Certification in Home Modifications from the University of Southern California National Resource Center on Supportive Housing and Home Modification. Marion has studied residential Universal Design at the University of Buffalo School of Architecture, Inclusive Design and Environmental Access Center.
With 30 years’ experience as a Medical Social Worker in acute care and long term care settings and as a licensed administrator in Assisted Living, Marion has in-depth knowledge of the aging process, physical, sensory and cognitive impairments, disabilities and chronic diseases. Her work with senior adults and people with disabilities provided her with the perspective of the positive outcomes which result from an optimal person-environment fit.
Marion has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio and a Masters of Social Work degree from Syracuse University with a concentration in Healthcare.
